Love of my life...

Keeping up with this blog posting is  harder than I thought it would be!! I need to start creating posts over the weekend and then publish them throughout the week.

The last week was busy, as usual, but also marked a couple of milestones. Justin and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary - and, being the crazy fun couple we are, we celebrated it by making a challenge friendly dinner at home and watching the season premier of Modern Family (LOVE THAT SHOW). We wanted to see Hotel Transylvania however, it didn't come out until last night. We extended the anniversary celebrations to Friday by getting a great workout in together, making a delicious dinner courtesy of lindseats and hit up the movies. Our second milestone was completing two full weeks of the challenge!! More updates coming in a separate post on just how well that is going.

The movie: Going into it, I did not know this was an Adam Sandler production but I was very impressed - I find his movies have been touch and go lately but this was an all out win in my opinion. Justin and I have been waiting since New York to see this - well worth the wait.

On to the main content of this post, despite the title, I am not talking about my loving boyfriend of three years - the love of my life (one of two) is my positively perfect Miniature Pinscher, Chauka.

We adopted him on March 26th, 2011 - I would imagine most parents talk about their human children like I talk about my dog... but he was PERFECT on the drive home. Didn't cry or get sick, NO accidents (despite the bag full of emergency items I had packed). He played with the toys we brought and slept for the bulk of the lengthy drive home from Windsor.

While housetraining him was a real challenge (thanks Mom!) we got through the rough patches. We spent countless hours in obedience training and it all paid off. He is extremely obedient (99% of the time) and despite the fact that he is a little snobby from time to time, he is a well socialized pup.

Chauka's favourite activities include protecting me from cyclists on walks by ferociously barking and growling, growling and staring down pedestrians in the car, as well as other favourite pastimes...

Getting into underwear
(literally)
Frogging at the cottage

Eating birthday cake and receiving gifts
Playing Santa in the local Christmas Parade
Digging in the sand
(while wet, and then putting his wet, sandy body on the couch)
And smoking cigarettes
(I kid, I kid, this is a pretend one for Halloween
my dog has not ingested cigarette smoke)

On the whole, I'd say this pup has a pretty great life and Justin and I are very privileged to call him ours.

  1. Awww Chauka! He is always so cute. Looking back at these pictures I forgot how tiny he was when you first got him.
